The Doctrine and Covenants
And now, behold, I say unto you, that the thing which will be of the most worth unto you will be to declare repentance unto this people, that you may bring souls unto me, that you may rest with them in the kingdom of my Father. Amen.
Our lovely brothers and sisters whom we have no knowledge of in this life but would have known in a place called the preexistence are all involved in the same eternal destiny which we find ourselves on the same path to find joy. This pursuit of happiness leads us in this life and the next; those who lived a secular life devoid of love toward their fellow beings will find themselves in writhing pain spiritually once the veil is lifted from their eyes and they see themselves as they truly are.
A good example of this is the Prodigal Son and his relationship with his brother. Instead of being happy and pleasant that his brother was okay (charity), he was more concerned about the wealth his brother had lost (riches/lucre) than the fact that his brother advanced spiritually and learned a valuable lesson. And that is also what is meant by the savior stating that he who doesn’t forgive is guilty of the greater sin. The sin of lacking compassion and placing importance on things other than the soul (which is of great worth to God that we enlarge our souls). Almost every sin can be forgiven except the ones that seek to undermine the eternal progression of others.
